Congrats to the 2023 HESI Program graduates!
Watch the participants’ final presentations!
HESI (Health Career Exploration Summer Institute) is a free two-three week summer education program sponsored by HCOE’s Career and College Resource Department. It provides high school students the opportunity to discover if they are interested in a career in Healthcare. This year, the program will be accepting 26 students.
This program is vital to our community and helps keep students motivated to pursue careers in health care. As our current health care workforce is hurting, we hope students will return to the Humboldt County Workforce.
This year’s instructors are Sara Dixon and Alicia Mengel. Sara has been involved with HESI since the beginning, and currently teaches Biology, AP Biology, Anatomy, and Biology and Community Health at Fortuna High. Alicia joins us this year from Eureka Senior High School. Alicia teaches Biology and Community Health as well as Biology and Geoscience.
