The Humboldt County Office of Education Health Team works to support student health so that students are healthy, at school, and ready to learn. The team is comprised of School Nurses, a Licensed Vocational Nurse, and Medical Clerks who travel to schools throughout Humboldt County. The team consults with school staff, health care providers, and parents/guardians on school health concerns. These include student health care needs during the school day and school sponsored activities, communicable diseases, first aid, and immunizations.
The team also assists school districts in meeting required health services through providing the following:
- Student vision and hearing screenings
- Health assessments for students with Individualized Education Plans
- TB testing and risk assessments for school staff
