HCOE offers a variety of special education programs and services to support students in the local public schools. Some of the programs serve students directly and other services offer professional support to school districts.
Direct student services include the Special Beginnings program which provides early intervention services to children ages 0-5 years. These services are delivered in a variety of placements depending on the student’s age and needs.
Glen Paul School provides special day class placements for students with moderate to severe disabilities ages 3-22 years. These special day classes are located on the Glen Paul campus and on school campuses throughout the county.
HCOE also employs education specialists that support students in small local school districts. The School Nurses and the Health Team provide assistance with training and coordination of mandated nursing services .
The HCOE School Psychologists offer assessments and consultation services. Occupational Therapists provide assessment and direct service to students in coordination with local school districts.
