The Humboldt County Office of Education’s Rising Stars Foundation, with support from The Rotary Club of Eureka and other local individuals, businesses and organizations, sponsored 18 students from Humboldt County to the 67th annual California State Science Fair in Los Angeles April 23-24. At the state competition, 934 students competed from 397 schools representing 795 projects.
The county champions qualified for the state competition after participating in the 35th annual Doris Niles Humboldt County Science Fair held in March at Humboldt State University. The Science Fair featured over 300 projects created by fourth through twelfth grade students from over 30 of the county’s elementary, middle and high schools.
