Earlier last month, a team from Recology visited Eureka High’s Automotive Technology classes.  The presenters included the Operations Manger, Maintenance Manager, and two Mechanics.  The Recology staff shared information on the job opportunities and benefits at Recology, the importance of learning in their automotive technology classes, and the need for new technicians getting into the trade. Recology brought and street sweeper and a service truck for the students to tour. The presentation also included diesel engine computer diagnostics performed in front of everyone, and the vehicle inspection process.  Many of the students got the chance to speak one on one with the presenters and get their questions answered.

A big thank you to the team at Recology; Frank Nelson, Milo Falor, Jared Eggel, and Leonard Cahill for providing the presentation to Sean Mitchell’s Automotive Technology classes.  We’re excited about the potential of the Trades Academy to grow and give more local students the opportunity to connect with trades industry craftsman and businesses.  The Trades Academy is a key initiative in the Education At Work effort to bridge what students learn in their classrooms to their career or higher education success.  Education At Work is working hard to include many community partners from business, government, nonprofit industry sectors, CR, HSU, and local schools.  With your help, we are making a difference in helping kids prepare for their futures, and supporting the development of our future workforce.
